Cyclisme sur piste
The first bikes were built in the 1850s, especially in France, in a form quite far from what we know today. It was not until the 1870s that wooden track cycling competitions took off in England, for example the first six-day race in London in 1878. The track quickly gained popularity and structure with the creation of the International Cycling Association. This organization allowed the first world championship competition to take place in Chicago in 1893.
